What We Offer

 

The main goal of the GFWC and the MFWC is to unite member clubs and encourage women to improve their skills, expand their rights, and apply their abilities and special sensitivity to the problems of their communities and nations. Areas of activity include the arts, conservation, education, home life, international affairs, and public affairs, as well as other special projects.

 

How to Become a Member

How to Start a New Club

If there is not a GFWC/MFWC club in your area, consider starting one! E-mail us at info@gfwc-mfwc.org for further information and we will be happy to provide personal support and the materials you need to get going!

 

The MFWC, through its membership, has a long list of accomplishments and activities. Following is an abbreviated list.
    • Built and continues to maintain the State Headquarters in Jackson, Mississippi.
    • Instrumental in the establishment of the Colony for the Feebleminded.
    • Establishment of Mississippi Forestry Commission.
    • Endorsement of Designation of State Forests.
    • Support for the establishment of the Youth Detention Home.
    • Helped organize and support the Mississippi Library Commission.
    • Responsible for 75% of the state's libraries.
    • Has awarded the Hebron Memorial Scholarship for graduate or undergraduate work since 1909.
    • Supported war efforts during both World Wars and the Korean Conflict.
    • Adopted Golden Age Friends and other services to the aged.
    • Gave one half of the cost to erect a gazebo on the east side of the Governor's Mansion.
    • Built one school in Honduras through CARE and equipped a school in Bali.
    • Built a playground for the Mississippi School for the Deaf.
    • Contributed money to the Shadow Oaks Campground at the Mississippi State Hospital in Whitfield.
    • Supports a wide variety of international, national, and local charities.
