IUKA 20TH CENTURY CLUB In the summer and fall thru Christmas, the Iuka 20th Century Club was busy in their community with various projects. Below are some we want to share with you. |
For Memorial Day, President Jo Russell and Vice President Maxine Wade placed a colorful wreath on the Veteran's Monument in memory of those that gave their life for our freedom. |
In April, May, June, and July, our club selects a "Yard of the Month." Our sign is placed in their yard for that month and the owners are presented a gift card for the garden center, courtesy of Wal-mart. These are two of the yards. |
One of our fundraisers is participating in Heritage Day on Labor Day Weekend. We operate a concession stand on Saturday featuring our famous, mouth-watering homemade ice cream. We also served coffee and Jack's biscuits for breakfast and beans and cornbread for lunch. The ice cream is ready and being sold by 9:00 a.m. and is made until 4:00 p.m. We could have sold it as long as the activities were going.

Pictured (left to right) is Ruth Ellen Cox, Willadeen Thorne, Nancy Daugherty, Zenobia Oaks, Libby Murtagh, Terrie Whitehurst, Vicki Frye, Linda Bonds, Nellie Bugg, and Joy Kitchens. One worker did not make the picture, where were you Fredda? |

Our club decorated one of the gates at Mineral Springs Park for the Christmas season. Our Christmas parade ends and is judged at the park. Shown are the members that made a beautiful gate for the "winter wonderland" at the park.

The first three weeks of December, our club selects an outstanding home featuring lights and Christmas decor. Each homeowner is presented a lovely poinsettia for the holidays. These are two of the homes selected. |
Our project for the month of December was to collect discarded call phones and chargers for S.A.F.E. Our project, "Call for Help," was very successful as we collected 50 cell phones in December. Shown here is Vicki Frye who headed up the project. We will continue this project thru May. . |

Of course, we ended 2007 with our usual Christmas social in the home of President Jo Russell. We had delicious food, picture taking, games, and a game of "Dirty Santa" which provided much fun. All our members attended. |

WOMAN'S FORUM OF OXFORD
Lake Elliott is serving as president of Woman's Forum of Oxford. This is especially noteworthy because Lake is the only charter member of our federated club, which was established in 1948.
Through the years Lake has always demonstrated loyalty and leadership in attendance and service to Woman's Forum. She served an earlier term as president, and she has served in many offices and is chairperson of many committees including the 50th anniversary celebration of the club's founding. She serves regularly as hostess and program leader. She has been photographer and scrapbook chairman. She is always willing to serve in any capacity where she is needed.
We believe her longevity as a club leader is cause for praise and recognition!
